What Galbot Actually Showed At WRC 2026 In Beijing

Galbot showed the ET1 dancing. On stage at WRC 2026 the robot performed street dance, including hand-supported floor moves and inverted holds, and tracked a human dancer's movements in real time rather than replaying a fixed routine. Galbot's claim is that no preset script drove the performance, and that voice responses and motion were generated live.

Before the event, the company ran a separate CGI teaser showing the ET1 hitting tennis strokes. That footage is rendered animation, not recorded hardware. Anyone treating the tennis clip as evidence of what the ET1 can do physically is reading a marketing asset as a test result.

The dance segment is the stronger evidence, because it happened in front of an audience on real hardware. It is still a stage demo. A choreographed launch slot is run on a flat, clean, well-lit floor with engineers standing by, with as many takes as the schedule allows, and with nothing on the line if the robot falls. None of that resembles a warehouse aisle or a shop floor.

What the demo does establish: the ET1 walks, balances through aggressive whole-body motion, recovers from inverted positions, and tracks a moving person closely enough to mirror them. Those are real, non-trivial capabilities. What it does not establish: runtime under load, repeatability across hundreds of cycles, or any manipulation work at all.

Per the company's description at the unveiling, it does four jobs: it observes the surrounding environment continuously, it interprets human language instructions, it plans a sequence of behaviours to satisfy the instruction, and it drives the low-level motion control that executes them.

Split that into two halves and it gets easier. The upper half decides what to do. A camera feed and a spoken sentence go in, and a plan comes out: walk here, face this way, reach for that. The lower half decides how the body does it, working out joint-by-joint what the legs, torso and arms must do to stay upright while carrying out the plan.

Galbot presents AstraBrain as one model family spanning several robot bodies, its stated goal being a single brain that can drive bipedal, wheeled and heavy-load machines. The company has also published a whole-body control component, AstraBrain-WBC, positioned as a motion-control foundation model trained on large volumes of human motion capture, with the claim that it can perform motions it was never explicitly trained on.

Treat the training-scale figures quoted around the launch as company-stated. Hour counts of motion data are not audited numbers, and nobody outside Galbot can currently reproduce them. The architecture label is confirmed. The performance claims attached to it are not.

Galbot ET1 Specs: What Is Published And What Is Not

Galbot has published no dimensional or performance specifications for the ET1. No height, no weight, no degree-of-freedom count, no actuator type, no sensor list, no onboard compute, no battery capacity, no runtime, no payload, no walking speed and no price. Reporting from the event names the robot and the architecture, and describes what it did, and stops there.

This is normal for a Chinese humanoid debut and it is also the reason to be careful. Spec numbers circulating for a robot in this state are usually one of three things: figures lifted from a different model in the same lineup, figures inferred from video by eye, or figures invented by a listing site. Any page quoting the ET1's height today is not quoting Galbot.

Why A Wheeled-Robot Company Built A Biped

Wheels are the right answer for flat retail floors. They are faster, steadier and cheaper to run than legs, and they do not spend energy simply standing up. They are the wrong answer for stairs, kerbs, thresholds and any building not designed around a rolling base. A wheeled robot in a pharmacy is a good product. A wheeled robot in a house is a robot that stops at the first step.

There is a second reason, and it is about the software. Galbot's pitch is one brain across many bodies. That claim is hard to test on a single wheeled platform, where the legs problem never arises. A biped is the demanding case for whole-body control, so shipping one gives the AstraBrain story a much harder proving ground, and gives the company a body to sell into scenarios the G1 cannot reach.

Here is the detail that gets missed. Galbot's own published athletic-control research, the LATENT tennis framework co-authored with Tsinghua University and Peking University researchers, was deployed on a Unitree G1 humanoid, not on Galbot hardware. Galbot had no biped of its own to run it on. The ET1 closes that gap: its research arm can now test on a body its product arm actually owns.

Galbot ET1 vs G1 vs S1: How The Lineup Fits Together

The ET1 does not replace anything in Galbot's lineup. It adds a third body type to a range that already had a wheeled service robot and a heavy-payload industrial arm platform, with each aimed at a different job.

The G1 is the commercial workhorse: wheeled, dual-armed, roughly human height, deployed in pharmacies and retail. The S1, released in January 2026, is the heavy end, with dual arms rated by the company to a 50 kg maximum payload and reported use on production lines. The ET1 is the mobility play, and the only one that walks.

Read the roadmap through that split. Galbot is not betting the company on legs. It is keeping revenue on wheels while developing a biped, which is a more conservative sequence than several of its rivals chose. Can You Buy A Galbot ET1?

No. The Galbot ET1 is not for sale, has no announced price, and has no published delivery timeline. Any site listing it with a price or an add-to-cart flow is guessing or generating a quote request.

Galbot sells business to business, not to consumers, and its existing products go through commercial inquiry rather than online checkout.
