Eight wall painting robot systems are worth shortlisting in 2026, and they split cleanly by where they work and how they reach the wall. The table below lists each one with the figures its maker publishes. Every price cell says what the vendor actually discloses, which in seven of eight cases is nothing.
Two entries share a lineage. Shenzhen BrightMaster Robotics (BMR) and Bright Dream Robotics both come out of the Chinese construction-robot programme originally funded by Country Garden, and their exterior machines use the same basic idea: a spray module that bolts onto a standard suspended gondola instead of a bespoke climbing chassis. Overseas dealers such as ProBuild Robotics resell the Bright Dream units into North America.
Reach figures are not comparable across the interior and exterior groups. An indoor robot's 3.2 m is the height it can spray from the floor in one pass. An exterior robot's 100 m is the height of building it can be lowered down, which is a property of the gondola and the roof rig, not the robot.

Interior and Exterior Wall Painting Robots Are Different Machine Classes
Interior and exterior wall painting robots share almost no engineering. Treating them as one shopping category is the most common mistake buyers make on this topic. An interior unit is a battery-powered floor robot with a vertical mast. It drives itself around a room, scans the surface, and sprays. Its hard limit is ceiling height, which is why BrightMaster's NP320 stops at 3,200 mm and MYRO states 3.1 m.
An exterior unit is a spray head, a pump, a tank and an attitude controller that hang off something else. The BrightMaster T100 is explicit about this: it is described as a modular platform designed to mount on industry-standard aerial work gondolas with a 2 to 4 metre working stroke. The robot does not climb. The gondola does the vertical travel, and the roof rig carries the load.
The consequence for procurement is direct. Buying an interior robot is buying a machine. Buying an exterior robot is buying a module that has to be certified against the suspended access equipment already on the job, plus the anchors, wind limits and rescue plan that come with it. In the US that means the same rope-descent and powered-platform rules that govern human crews, including OSHA 1910.27. A robot in the basket changes who is exposed to the fall hazard. It does not remove the regulatory work.
This is also where facade cleaning robots and coating robots part company. Cleaning robots can be wall-climbing crawlers because water and brushes are light. A coating robot has to carry its own paint, 80 litres of it in the T100's case, and hold a constant standoff distance while spraying, which is a much heavier and less forgiving payload. Almost nothing in the coating class climbs.
Access Method Is the Real Selection Axis
Access method decides more about fit than spray technology does. Four approaches exist in commercial use, and each one rules out a set of buildings before any comparison of finish quality begins.
Gondola-mounted modules suit repetitive residential and commercial towers where a suspended platform is going up anyway. Boom-lift systems suit low and mid-rise slabs with hard standing all around, which is why PaintJet targets tilt-up warehouses and distribution centres rather than city-centre towers. Tethered drones suit assets where no lift can be positioned at all: bridges, sound barriers, tanks, turbines. Floor-standing indoor robots suit large repetitive interiors, and nothing else.
The tethered drone case deserves a caveat. Apellix states coverage rates above 1,000 square feet per hour and has systems in service with state departments of transportation and federal contractors, but its spray-painting platform was still being offered through a limited beta programme as of its 2025 announcements. Commercial drone work in the US also runs under FAA Part 107, and a tethered coating supply adds weight and airspace constraints that operators routinely underestimate.

Wall Painting Robot Price: What Is Actually Published
No major wall painting robot vendor publishes a list price. Every system in the comparison table above is sold through a quote, a demo request or a service contract. BrightMaster lists a sales email and a hotline rather than pricing. Okibo and MYRO both route buyers to a demo form. PaintJet does not sell the Bravo at all; it sells the painted result and offers an instant-quote form for the job.
Marketplace listings are the reason a search for a wall painting robot price returns numbers between roughly $1,000 and $50,000. Those listings are mostly a different product. Wholesale catalogues in that band are dominated by wall mural and UV printers, putty and plaster spray rigs, and generic six-axis paint arms intended for factory booths. None of them is a facade coating robot, and a facade coating robot at a four-figure price does not exist.
Treat any single number you see quoted for this category as an aggregator estimate rather than a vendor figure. The useful question is not the sticker price but the procurement model, because the models carry very different obligations.

Coverage Rates and What They Leave Out
Published coverage rates measure spraying time only, and spraying is not the whole job. MYRO states 100 m² per hour and describes 15 to 20 minutes to connect the robot and set up the paint, plus 20 to 30 minutes of cleaning and maintenance afterwards. On a small room that overhead is larger than the spraying. Okibo reports that customers have seen up to a fivefold productivity increase, though it does not publish a coverage rate on its site specifically on level 4 and level 5 sanding, which is a narrower claim than a fivefold gain on painting overall.
Exterior figures are looser still. The reseller spec sheet for the Bright Dream TR500 and TD500 quotes efficiency numbers of 500 and 180 per hour, printed with a unit of cubic metres per hour where square metres is clearly meant, and the parameter table on that page repeats the labels "overall dimensions" and "rated power" several times against different values. Anyone using that sheet to build a bid schedule is working from a document its own publisher has not proofread. Ask for the manufacturer's original datasheet before quoting a rate to a client.
The figure that travels best is the crew ratio. PaintJet describes a two to three person team completing what previously took six people, and it says the Bravo uses about 25 percent less paint through more precise application. Material saving is a cleaner claim than speed because it survives contact with site conditions.
The BrightMaster T100 gives a rare piece of candour in its own spec: an overall coverage rate of at least 80 percent. BMR does not define the term, and we read it as roughly a fifth of the facade area still needing a human to finish it. Corners, edges, terminations and anything the module cannot reach at its 2 to 4 metre stroke come back to the crew. Plan the labour for it.
Surface Prep and Overspray Are Where Projects Go Wrong
Surface preparation and overspray containment are the two costs buyers consistently leave out of a wall painting robot business case. A spray robot applies coating faster than a roller, which means it also applies defects faster. If the substrate is contaminated, chalking or still wet, the robot will lay a uniform coat over a bad surface and the failure will be uniform too.
Preparation is the main reason indoor robots and outdoor robots diverge in usefulness. Okibo's EG7+ handles sanding as well as painting, so a single machine covers the prep and finish loop for drywall. The exterior machines do not. The T100 and TR500 class are spray heads; washing, repair, crack filling and priming of the facade still happen before the gondola drops.
Overspray is the constraint that decides whether an exterior robot is usable on an occupied site at all. A suspended sprayer working at height puts atomised coating into the wind, and wind limits are published for exactly that reason: the ProBuild sheet for the Bright Dream units lists an operating limit below 8.3 m/s, which is force 5 on the Beaufort scale. That is a modest breeze. On an exposed coastal or high-rise site, the number of workable hours in a week may be the real determinant of schedule, not the robot's hourly rate.
Cars, glazing, neighbouring properties and landscaping all need masking or exclusion regardless of who holds the gun. Budget the containment as though a human crew were spraying, because from a liability standpoint they might as well be.
Are Wall Painting Robots Real?
Wall painting robots are real and in commercial service, but the category also contains a large volume of concept footage that never became a product. The distinction is easy to make: look for a spec sheet with numbers, a named customer, or a square footage total.
Okibo states that its robots have covered more than one million square feet across Europe and announced a US national launch of the EG7+ in December 2025 after a premiere at a Hensel Phelps innovation event. PaintJet reported more than 1.5 million square feet of building exteriors and ships painted, raised a $10 million Series A in 2023, and has been covered by CNBC and TechCrunch. BrightMaster publishes full parameter tables for the T100 and NP320 and lists a Shenzhen and Foshan address. MYRO lists named developer and contractor associations including Sobha Realty, Tata Housing and ALEC Engineering. Those are products.
The concept end of the category is the rendered wall-climbing painter that appears in short-form video, usually with no manufacturer, no parameters and no way to buy it. Academic prototypes add to the noise: a 2024 arXiv paper from Jahangirnagar University describes a smartphone-controlled spray rig for high-rise exteriors built on servo motors and a microcontroller, which is legitimate research and not a purchasable machine. Both are real work. Neither is procurable.
A separate caution applies to the Chinese-built machines, which are the most capable exterior units on the list.
